Fishing last night

Yikes - that is a nasty story! Glad it seems to be OK.

My wifes brother was a real spaz with a fishing rod. He hooked his dad's eyelid once without getting the eyeball. How's them apples! He's passed on now I'm sad to say but he was a blast when fishing. Even as an adult if he hooked even the smallest fish he turned into an over-excited tasmanian devil. He'd run around the boat, jump around, it was practically a miracle that there were no more injuries. But boy, did he have a good time fishing.

It only takes a split second for it to happen. We were once fishing a small freshwater lake with me on one side and a friend on the other. I threw my rattletrap and it went all the way across and hooked him in the ear. Luckily I noticed it before I set the hook. The barb didn't go all the way in, but was scary to say the least.

I can only imagine what kind of pain it was with it near the eye. I still can't figure out how people pierce their eye brows.

I ALWAYS wear eye protection when fishing, especially around kids. I encourage the kids to wear sunglasses as well.

And ever since I had to pull a treble-hook lure out of the dog's snout (stupid dog tried to bite it again right after I pulled it out!), I avoid treble hooks around kids or dogs.
