Just got new tractor chains for my 1720. Of course they were to be the right size but were way long. Which I guess is better then being to short! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif My question is on the back side they only provide a hook to connect the chains together. No clamp/fold over clamp for the back side like the front. Is this standard on chains? The old pair I'm taking off had the fold over clamps on both sides!!!!
Thanks in advance. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

alan mine only had a fold over clamp on the out side inside has a normal hook and links. Than i have the star adjuster on the out side of the wheel it connects at 5 spots and that is adjustable at the links

Yep same here.Fold over on the outside.Have that set up on both tractors, can't say I've seen them on both sides or the big advantage of having that kind of chain set up.

I agree with these guys; haven't had any problem with only one hook (on the outside). I actually have cut a few links off the ends and leave a little slack in the chains so they can "give" a little bit with the movement of the tractor. Seems to give better traction than having them completely snugged up.
