I've got a JD950 with a Yanmar engine. Blew out a bearing and put a rod thru the block. Concerned about maybe harming a cooling jacket I sent the block out for pressure testing to a reputable shop and it came back OK. Put it all back together and ran great for about 9 months and starting smoking terribly. After investigation, found that cyl.1 injector was bad. Fixed that and ran the same, SICK. Checked compression and didn't have any, along with coolant in my oil.
If I plug off fuel supply to #1cylinder, tractor runs great and doesn't smoke. I saw on a discussion forum that diesels can run effectively with 2 out of 3 cylinders. Don't want to harm my JD anymore. Local shops don't want to bother trying to weld the cracked block. Any noteworthy suggestions???
