Last night I wanted to do some brush hogging with my Yanmar and noticed that my left brake pedal went in way farther than the right one. I could push the left pedal about twice as far as the right. My left brake didnt engage so I took a look under the tractor. There is a pin that links the brake pedal to a rod that goes to a lever on my tranny for the brakes. Then i checked the left side and the pin was gone! I ran to the garage and found that i didnt have any bolt small enough to fix the problem. Luckly I recently got a bunch of large cotter pins and had one exactly the right size. I put the cotter pin into the hole and climbed onto the tractor. Now both my brakes work fine and the tractor breaks a LOT better. And I also got 2 1/2 hours of seat time brush hogging afterwards. :D:thumbsup::p

When you find the correct Metric pin, please post where you found it.

My first Yanmar still has a few hacked 'features' from the first owner. I found metric bolts in place of a couple of those pins, with a nut run all the way to the top of the threaded part of the bolt and a second jam nut locking it. I guess that doesn't hurt anything since they are the correct diameter and the smooth part of the bolt is the wearing surface but it looks stupid with excess bolt length revealing that it's not right.

I have inquired about the correct pins while ordering consumables from a couple of the dealers, but nobody had them at the time.

Use a longer shouldered bolt cut off the threads, drill a small hole for a clevis pin. Regards

Next week is my last week of school so I will have time to go to the hardware store to get what I need. I do however have some bolts that if I shaved the thread off and put a hole in for a pin It would work just as good as the old one.
