I notice my side panel was lower than it should be, and when I removed it one of the brackets it rests on against the frame was opening up. It is still holding on due to the weld on one side, but the spot weld on the other side is no longer holding (see pics below).

Any ideas how to reinforce this bracket again? It does take a lot of vibration from the engine, etc., so I am not sure if JB-Weld would work or not. I am hoping someone has ideas that do not involve welding heat, as that would mean repainting the other side.

Do you have a mig welder?

JB weld is good stuff...but it will not hold up in that application at all. Short of welding it, I can only suggest drilling a hole it it and bolting it through the hood.

I took it in to a local machine shop who mig welded it for $10. There was blistering/burning of the paint, but less than the size of a dime so it is not too bad.
