Fixing vintage Ariens Snow Throw bottom scraper

I garbage picked this last year, 4hp early 1970s, bottom scraper broke off because of rust at the bottom of the assembly. Wondering what my option is here. It is solid other than at the very bottom where it is bolted. Maybe 1/2 inch up it is perfect. I could get a wider piece of metal and bolt it higher up. I do have access to a welder at work as well. I could get a slightly longer scraper and weld the bottom scraper to the side skids and in the not rusted parts. The snowblower itself is functional, I used it quite a bit last year.

You can probably find a used bucket as the motors or auger gearbox fail. I restored one but the bottom was OK.

I restored and repowered it.
