Flail mower delivered today!!

J D salesman personally brought out my new flail mower this afternoon. It had been two months since I ordered it.This was not his or his dealerships fault.Anyhow it seems to have been worth the wait.It is extremely well built,runs smooth and quiet,and does a great job.Made a couple of passes around a Crp field (three FT. high grass/weeds)no windrowing or bunching of the discharge,which was why I wanted this type of mower vs rotary brush hog type.

I`m using a JD 5510 (belongs to the family farm) on the flail mower.I don`t think power will ever be a problem.Cut quality,,,I will know more tonight when I get more time to use it.I have the smooth cut knives on it.

Changed the cutting height down to what the manuul says is 3.5",Then went out and cut down about 10-12 acres of three foot deep grass and weeds on CRP land.The stuff was dry and the flail mower swallowed it without a wimper.Was traveling about 3.5 to 4 miles per hour.I`m fairly impressed,the six foot brush type mowers I`ve used generally would not do as nice a job.and left windrows and bunches,not a big deal on CRP acres but not something I like to see on my foodplots.The full width roller at the back of the machine is nice, it sets the cutting height and helps prevent scalping.Runs really quiet also,I can`t hear it run over the engine noise of the tractor.
