I have a Kubota B1750 it's 20 hp and 16hp at the pto (I think).

Can I run a 5ft mower off of this?

I am looking at three types of mowers. I have 2 manicured that I cut weekly and 5 that I cut every 2-3 weeks. I have a zero turn that I use for cutting the 2 acres, but it's in the shop (usually once a year) and I am considering a backup.

Thanks

From what everyone has said that I have seen on this forum, you should be able to run a 5ft finish mower. Rotary mowers you would have the most effectiveness with a 4 foot, but you probably could use a 5 foot.

You have hp to run a 5' finish mower, 4' bushhog, and no clue on the flail mower. One thing to look at is weight of the mowers and your tractor weight. If you CAN turn them, can you lift them, and can you do it with your front tires still on the ground. I don't know what your machine weighs or if you have a FEL you can use for counter weight. Just my 2 cents.

I would agree with that too.

Thank you all!

Yes, I have a FEL. I am not too familiar with the flail mower either, but have heard it is a good option. My mower with the FEL is around 1500-1700 lbs.

I have a 5 foot 3 pt finishing mower that I first used on the B6200 I had before. Had to slow down a bit if the grass was heavy. With the B7610 I have now I run full tilt in low range on the HST. I could probably run faster on most of the lawn but find low range a more comfortable choice for ride and control.
On another thread someone mentioned that flails use less power for the same width. Never used a flail so can't say myself.

5 PTO HP per 1ft of cut width is a good rule of thumb though it could be reduced if you cut often and dont let the grass get too high.
