Hi All,

I have a 4320 that I use occassional on by hunting land , I do not use it in the winter and last spring when I went to get her going the front tire was flat as a pan cake. No problem I pumped up the tire and it has been fine up to today. I was cutting some trails yesterday in the woods and this morning when I went to the garage the tire was flat again.

Should I be concerned about this?
Tractor is under warranty, would that be covered
Is there anything I should fill the tire with that will seal it

I am not sure what I should do or why it is going flat

There does not seem to be any hole or cut in the tire, so maybe a bad seal?. The last time I was using it I was driving in the woods with and was riding over a lot of tree branches, and logs.

Thanks

JYD

I don't think you could get a flat covered under warranty, unless there is a defect. Either take it to a service station or try to find the leak yourself with a squirt bottle filled with soapy water. Tire slime will work to seal leaks and I know someone will post up with another brand of sealer. JC

While tire sealers may work, they do make a mess when it comes time for a new tire. I would put the effort into fixing the leak properly. If you have a contaminate in between the tire and rim, it may only leak when the tire is in a specific position. That is why it has only gone flat twice (parked in a position that allowed the tire to leak).

You probably got a thorn or nail in it. I had a few thorns from a thorn apple puncture one of the fronts on my 4120 when it was new a couple years ago. Your warranty will not cover a flat tire, but you can easily fix it yourself (because it is tubeless) with a repair kit available at any automotive store. Use the loader to lift up[ the front of the tractor, then block it up. Apply some soapy water to the tire and spin it around until you locate the leak. Follow the directions on the tubeless repair kit and you will be good to go in around 5 minutes.

You can usually locate very difficult leaks with soapy water on the tread and around the bead. Bubbles will appear at the leak.

While your tire leak may not be covered under the warranty, your dealer may still service it for free. Mine did. I had a flat rear tire 4 days after taking delivery. He came out to my place, about 1 1/2 hours away, and we took it off the tractor and into the garage. I had 2 3"wide ratchet straps we put on to spread the bead over to the rim and aired it up. There was a 1" slice in the tread area. He took the tire to the local Les Swabb dealer and they patched it from the inside. He brought it back to my house and put it back on the tractor. When I asked him what I owed, he told me "no charge". He explained that since I bought the tractor and several impliments from him that the warranty included bumper to bumper and no time limit. I think his words were, "as long as I'm in business and you are buying your parts and routine service from me, your tractor is covered under warranty." He went on to say that if the tire or rim had been defective, he would have ordered a replacement for free and then if the original would be repairable, that I could keep it as a spare.

My point is; ask your dealer if it's covered. You never know. If not, tell him my relationship with my dealer and that you now know where you're going to buy your next tractor.

BTW, I saw the Les Swabb bill. It was $56. I gave the assistant who came out with him $50 and told them to get dinner on the way back home. All told, they took 6 hours to take care of me that day between driving, going to the tire store, taking off and remounting the wheel.

Forgot to mention dish washing detergent works great for this. Old trick I learned as a youngster working in a garage. Good luck.

Look for the leak (might be a loose valve stem or core). Spray on window cleaner does a great job of finding leaks. Get tired of looking - get some tire sealer and be done with it. it is not like you will eb going thru tires like crazy. I did that on my 4720. Cactus kept punching thru.
