Flatbed truck spare rim/tire mount

Got the spare tire & wheel mounted today (finally). I dont like the way its facing in a “ launch “ position out onto the road. I think I am going to mount a piece of aluminum angle to the back of the toolbox up against the tire to keep it blocked from jettisoning off the truck bed, if the lock rod were to break.
Some of you may wonder why I didnt mount behind cab shield. Its because I need the room for 100 gallon fuel transfer tank.

Nice truck and bed!

Thanks :drink:
I now have a Martin Flatbed and an Eby flatbed. Each one has its strengths.
I love flatbeds, except when I have to put a load of mulch or wood chips on it.

You may want to consider a cover for your spare if you leave your truck out in the sun most of the time. UV rays really give tire rubber a beating. Your spare is not usually replaced when you buy a new set of tires for your trailer. If you drive around RV parks you will note that many owners cover their tires and this is the reason why. Just a thought .....

Agree.
Fortunately, I have a big enough (barely) garage for it on my house, or Id be covering that spare as you suggest.

I still may do it anyway
