Looking for some advise on the John deere flex 71 depth bands.Would like to know what parts are needed for installation and how do they install. Can these still be purchased from John Deere? Do you use a band on both the left and right opener?

Here is the assembly from JD parts. Looks straight forward... but I have never installed them myself. Farmwithjunk has and may chime in if he sees your post.

I would call your local dealer with the part numbers for availability or watch ebay as I've seen them on there.

All the mounting parts are still available through Mother Deere. It's worth the time/trouble/cost to install the disc/depth band scrapers if you'll be using the planter much.

Various sizes of depth bands (to regulate various planting depths) Also remember the depth band will plant at a reduced depth if disc openers are worn.

Get "parts in hand" and the "how to install" will be obvious. Piece of cake.

Which "Parts in Hand" are needed? #1 and #2 only? Does the dust cover (#5) come off and is replaced by the depth band? What does the cap screw #1 attach to?
