I haven't used Flex Seal, but I have used liquid electrical tape. I use it to coat connections before direct burial. Of course, I use shrink tubing too. One connection has been in service for 5 years with no problem.
If it were exposed to sunlight, I don't think it would last over a year, maybe two at most.
Looks good and sure it lasts like the commercial says, but i have my doubts about how long.
You are talking about the stuff on tv where they cut out the bottom of a Jon boat and replace it with a screen door and then spray that rubber tar like spray on it to reseal it, right?
I would think its like that roofing tar, works great then dries out and recracks. Like the stuff i used on my old leaky boots on my roof before replacement. I seemed to get 6 months out of it then in the summer heat it pulled away from the pipe, no matter how thin or thick i made it?
Interesting commercial, but as you guys have pointed out, probably many products to accomplish the same thing. The novelty to me would be the ease of the spray application.
My friends father bought some and besides ripping him off on the s+h the nozzles clogged up quickly. Commercials are entertaining but I am a graduate of the school "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't."
Thanks for the replies guys, Personally I don't think it will last over one year in this South Texas heat. And ya, the S&H is about $10.00 on the web sight I was looking at. I'll pass on this stuff or wait until Wally World carries it. LOL
You probably have to use the entire can on one job so the nozzle don't clog up.
I ordered it and it started out bing 19.99 as the add said when I got the bill it was 107.96 called AmerExp ASAP and syoped the charge called them they had sent me like 4cans only ordered one they wanted me to take out and send it back and pay shipping.
