Aside from the size (horsepower rating), they are both updraft carbs. The first one looks like the old Zenith carbs with a remote air cleaner. The second one looks like the air cleaner sits on top. Perhaps an oil bath type. The choke orientation is different on each--One on the engine side (inside), one on the outside.
Those are pretty old carb designs. I think mostly used on the cast iron small engines. When was the last time you saw one of those?

Uses either a foam oiled air cleaner or a paper cartridge style cleaner

Also with a paper cartridge style air filter
And I have worked on both styles of carb in the past 2-3 years
Thanks for the reply, this is a very unconventional use of a carb, it was installed on a FM Z 2 HP engine to replace the mixing valve usually installed on it. The whole engine sat under seawater during Ian, currently being restored, only this carb needs replaced now, hopefully with an aftermarket, any thoughts?
We are thinking of getting away from the Flo Jet, my calculations show a 50 cubic inch engine , thinking of using a Zenith carb if we could figure the right size, build a manifold to fit.
