3-Point Hitch Float position for JD 850

I recently purchased my first tractor. It's a mid 80s(?) 850. I don't have any manuals, so until I get them, I'll be making good use if this site. My first question is about the 3-point hitch. I'm starting to grade my property with a 5' BB. I read in one of the posts here that I should find the 'float' setting. Does the 850 have a float setting?

Welcome to TBN!

In short, yes your 3PH has a float position since there is no downpressure, you just have to push the lever forwards. Try this, lower the 3PH all the way with the tractor running, then try to lift the arms, you'll see that you can easily since there is nothing but gravity holding them down.
