Flood of 2008

I thought these might be of interest to some of you. Flood stage in Burlington is 15', we will crest tonight at over 26'. This surpasses the record of 25.1' set in 1993.

More bad news this morning, the levee at Gulfport IL broke at 6:00AM. This closes the Great River Bridge in Burlington and the BNSF bridge in Ft Madison meaning you have to go 50 miles south or 50 miles north to cross the river, if you can get to the bridges.

May God bless all of you undergoing this horrible prolonged disaster. So many homes, businesses, and crops will be lost in our country's breadbasket. I hope the nation will rally to relieve some of your distress as these floods subside. I would encourage everyone to find a charity of your choice and donate generously.

Those images are very sobering as are all the ones I have seen in the news. Thanks for posting and keeping this need on the minds of all of us.

Prayers and best wishes for safety and recovery from these disasters. I heard on the news last night that the Red Cross is out of money and having to borrow funds to help with relief. Let's all do our part to help.
