Florida Gov. Rick Scott declares state of emergency ahead of Category 4 Hurricane Irm

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency in the state as rapidly growing Hurricane Irma, now a Category 4 storm, is expected to make landfall later this week.

The state of emergency has been issued for all of Florida痴 67 counties. Scott said that the state would 菟repare for the worst and hope for the best as Irma is expected to hit the state around Friday.

The governor tweeted Monday that he urges "all Floridians to remain vigilant and stay alert to local weather and news and visit FLGetAPlan.com today to get prepared."

Current news shows it headed for Texas.

Hurricane now Cat 5 as Florida prepares 'for the worst'

Hurricane Irma continued to strengthen Tuesday as an "extremely dangerous" Category 5 storm, prompting states of emergency in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Florida, sending residents to stores to prepare for the worst.

Irma's maximum sustained winds had increased to near 175 mph, and the storm was located about 270 miles east of Antigua, moving west at 14 mph, the National Hurricane Center said in its 8 a.m. ET advisory.

It's not stopping the gas stations from raising prices. They have gone up a dime since yesterday. I bet the price gouging hotline is ringing off the hooks. By law they are not supposed to charge more than the 30 day average BEFORE the state of emergency was declared. It's gone up 20 cents per gallon easy this week.

I ordered a diesel delivery for tomorrow. Hope they don't get too crazy with the price.

I'm in the north, center of the state, had to go to 3 stations for gas this morning.
My 2 year old 40' X 60' red iron building is rated for 120 mph, I guess it will be tested. ???
Gonna ride it out on 10 acres, have two generators, high ground.

Good luck Stimw. Is there any way you can anchor the panels/roof to keep it from coming apart? Or prevent the wind from getting under anything?

My aunt and uncle are doing the same. They said there's no gas and you'll just sit for days trying to get out anyway.
