flow control

I'm getting really confused now.
The way the last owner had it was
Up curl fluid was fed to the IN feed of the flow control. It then traveled out the CF to the hydraulic pump ( not sure what to call it fluid in and out metal housing with a shaft and gear. chain attached to the gear to turn a roller) chipper forward gear
Down curl fluid was fed to the hydraulic pump in reverse ( not sure what to call it fluid in and out metal housing with a shaft and gear. chain attached to the gear to turn a roller) chipper reverse operation now. It then traveled in the CF through the flow control
and the EX drained back into the 3PTH house at the fill hole
That was confusing.

The whole operation is not making any sense at all.

If the CF line went to one side of a hyd motor, say port A, how did port B get any fluid to reverse the motor?

You are calling the thing to turn the feed roller a pump, but it is a hyd motor.

This valve from Prince is similar.

Take a look at this PDF and look at the options for connecting things.

Made a video but its going to take 3 hrs to get it to load.

when the back hoe is run off of it I assume the fluid flows back to the tank through the other hose. If this item has a relief vave will it not control the pressure in the system?

Yes, it should if set correctly.

The first valve upstream after the pump will usually set the pressure for the open center hyd system.

You can set that valve to a lower pressure if you want to.

Best to set all relief the same.

In the second illustration, he is using another hyd circuit, using the EF flow.

If the CF is at 0/off, all flow goes to excess flow. That circuit has a valve with relief for the cyl, and both the motor and valve tee into the tank line.

If you pushed the lever to full flow, the hyd motor would get all the flow and the cyl circuit none.
