I have a little experience with hydraulics. I thought I knew enough but now I am confused. New log splitter build.
Question 1. 16gpm 2 stage pump has a 1" diameter hose barb for suction. But all the flow specs say 1 inch on suction is good for 12 gpm. at 5 ft/min. My tank has a 1 1/4 FPT outlet after the strainer. I can get a 1 1/4 mpt to 1 hose barb giving 1 inch hose to the pump. Is the 12gpm flow real? Will that restrict the pump to less than 16 gpm?
Question 2 Strainers and filters have options for by pass valves , I guess.
no by pass, 3psi, 5 psi etc. What should I use? I have no plan for a gage on the filter or strainer to indicate plugged.

Just use 1 1/4 in hose for the suction line.

Just use 1 1/4 in hose for the suction line.
The how do you attach it to the hose barb of the pump which is 1"
Some kind of rubber sleeve 1"ID x 1 1/4 OD " . Piece of hose?
edit Just found some R3 hose 1" ID x 1 1/2 od Thats as close as I can get SO use 1 1/2 R4 hose for suction. That should work.
