Ford: '88 3910 Series II, '80 3600, '65 3000; '07 6530C Branson with FEL, 2020 LS MT225S. Case-IH 395 and 895 with cab. All Diesels
Decided to put a cylinder on my drum mower to lift the tip. Had a 2" diameter cylinder on a Ford 3910, ⅜" hoses. Thought about a fixed restrictor fitting but couldn't find much and what I did find was really pricy. I decided on a variable 2 way needle valve from All States Ag. Parts for like $27, had it in a couple of days. Just now forget the total turns, at least 3 full turns lock to lock, but wound up with it set 90* open (quarter turn) from fully closed. Really glad I didn't go for a fixed one as whatever I would have ordered would have been way too big.

I added an adjustable flow control to my Tilt-Tach. It moved too quick and too far without it.

That is it on the hose on the right side of the cylinder in the picture:

I've got piloted check valves on my top and tilt cylinders to prevent leak down. No flow into the cylinder until 500 psi, and then a surge. Makes it hard to tweek the rear blade angle. Been thinking about adding a variable flow restrictor but before doing that, does anyone know if the pilot pressure can be adjusted down? 500 psi seems like a lot.

I think those valves were invented by a club-fisted Neanderthal who had no fine touch for hydraulic valve handles. :D

Some machines run the aux hydraulics with a electric over hyd switch that can be touchy. My grapple lid (single 2") was VERY fast and would slam open/shut so I'm using a fixed restrictor in a hose. It is run with a thumb operated toggle switch on the loader control.

I like these better in most cases, cost more yes, but most times I want to control speed in one direction and unrestricted in the other.
