FLUID FILM, MO-DECK, what's the difference?

Fluid Film is my absolute fave for just about anything. Number one on my fave list is using it on my PTO Shaft and all PTO implements for the easiest hook ups ever.

I tried Fluid Film on my new Husqvarna zero turn with no rust, it didn't work. On my 44 year old Woods RM-48, underside is rusted, the FF works really good. I would spray it in the fall, cut all summer and then clean and spray in the fall and have hardly any grass stuck to the underside.

I just looked on Amazon for Fluid Film. They sell a 6 pack of aerosol cans for $53. You'll need roughly 10 cans to equal a gallon. A gallon costs $42. Just FYI.

I just got Fluid Film spray cans from Amazon and look forward to trying it, maybe tomorrow.

Some people complained about the smell. I sprayed some into a plastic bag and took a whiff (no I'm not "huffing sheep" recreationally). It's an odd distinctive smell but I didn't mind it at all. Actually it reminds me of Grandfather's basement shop, which was such a magical place when I was small.

I did also do some research on lanolin, and it sounds ideal for many many uses, unless you happen to have an allergy to it. I had a recent thread here about light oil for applying to precision tools, and it gets mentioned there, if anybody's interested.

A couple of TBNer's recommended Eureka Fluid Film for coating the underside of mower decks and internals of snowthrowers. I went to my local TSC, and they had a product called MO-DECK (No Fluid Film :( ).
The Fluid Film website lists TSC as distributor. Has anyone used MO-DECK? Is it the same as/similar to Fluid Film?
The people at TSC say they sell a lot of MO-DECK to repeat customers. I bought two spray cans of MO-DECK ($7 ea) and plan to use it on my 62C mowing deck and front mounted PTO driven 47" snowthrower unless you guys advise different.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Spray-On 711 fluid film works great too. Price is less than $5 per can.

Both cans are the same formula. They are switching over.

Sprayon #711 is an ultra-thin, transparent blend of high-quality petroleum distillates specifically formulated to ensure maximum moisture displacement. Its film resists the collection of abrasive particles on delicate contacts and connectors. The superior qualities of #711 form a continuous film that spreads evenly over metal surfaces, giving uniform protection against corrosion attack. This 'spreadability' also makes #711 an excellent penetrant for freeing corroded parts and mechanisms. #711 will not affect plastic, rubber, fabrics, or painted surfaces. Dielectric strength 40,000 volts per mil. Contains no silicone.

Sprayon #711 works great at penetrating and removing rust and displacing moisture. It has a multitude of applications including:

  • Electrical wiring
  • Nuts and bolts
  • Circuitry
  • Operating controls
  • Ignition systems
  • Connectors
  • Linkages
  • All metal surfaces
11 oz. aerosol can.
