Hello All,
Well today I was out moving dirt and noticed that when using the tilt part of my loader, the weight of the dirt in the bucket would allow the hydraulics to bleed off and the bucket would tilt downward on itself.
I decided to check the hydraulic fluid and noticed it was a bit low, so I filled it using the dip stick not screwed in technique, and then the tilt bleed off problem went away. However, after using the tractor for about another 2 Hours, I noticed when I put it away for the day, behind the seat, where I added hydraulic fluid, was a mess, it appears fluid came out of the vent and proceeded to make a mess.
Any simple cures for this problem?

p.s. Tractor is a Jinma 304 with a AC2 loader, the loader came from Texas somewhere, not exactly sure, but has markings of what appears to be AC2 on the side of it, it is not a factory loader.

Thanks all in advance,
Rick

could it be that you put to much fluid in it and over the course of the day it heated up and expanded then pushed out the vent???

hello JDeere,
I filled it just as I was instructed on this Board, to fill it and check the dipstick, WITHOUT THREADING THE dipstick into the hole.
My gut feeling is that the vent is too low, but, you make a good point.
Thanks,
Rick

Was the loader up or down when you added oil? Were you working on a slope? If you filled it with the loader up, it might have returned a little more oil when the loader arms came down. If you were working on a slope, that may have caused it. Mine used to burp a little fluid when working with the front of the tractor up hill. I relocated the vent on my 284 forward in front of the upper 3PH lift pivots, which puts the vent almost in the middle of the resovoir on my tractor, and it hasn't burped since. I put a hydraulic oil return port where the original vent used to be on top of the filler plug.

If a little bit of oil bothers you, I have heard of a secondary expansion tank being used, like a small radiator catch can. The one I saw was basically a piece of PVC pipe that gets attached to the back of the seat. It has a hose barb on the bottom end and a piece of hose attached to the vent pipe. It has a vent hole with filter on the top end of the pipe. Any fluid that gets pushed out the vent will eventually make it back into the resovoir, but air will be allowed in and out of the pipe. This will at least keep it from dripping on the back of the tractor, at least up to the ammount that the pipe/catch can will hold.

Hello Ron,
Both the loader and 3 point were on the ground when I added the fluid. The oil does not both me too badly, I just do not want to mess anything up.
I do work the tractor on Hilly Terrain, so that could cause it as well?
So, It will be ok to leave it as is? Is there a simple fix for this?
Thanks again,
Rick

What fluid are you using? Some fluids cause foaming and this can lead to a over full situation. I am thinking the hilly terrain is some of your problem.

Hello Chris,
I am using a NAPA fluid, I think it is like a AW-?? Can't really remember off hand, but I bought it in a 5 gallon barrel, it was recommended by lots of the guys here on the board.
Thanks,
Rick

Your problem is probably no more complicated than the fact that you're working slopes. Downhill the fluid in the sump flows forward, no way to escape. Uphill it flows backward - and out the vent. Other than being a little messy, it's a non-problem.

Assuming that is, that you bought AW-?? hydraulic fluid and not AW-?? machine oil. They can look similar, but typically only the hydraulic fluid will contain anti-foaming additives. Maybe you should double check that container

Rick, I agree with the guys who think it's the slopes you're working on.
First of all, I think the hydraulic reservoir could have been a little larger, since fluid is pushed out when quickly lowering the loader sometimes (with a full reservoir) and it will "spit out" fluid through the vent. But working on slopes will aggravated the condition when the fluid is closer to the vent hole. I know Ronmar has relocated his vent to the middle of his hydraulic box cover. I added an extension to my vent/fill plug to help with the problem on my Kama.
Here is a thread where I did that, plus I added an exterior "spin-on" hydraulic suction strainer. Ron comments in that thread about his conversion also.

I have had fluid come out more than once on me also and this winter I plan on installing a recovery system on it. What I plan on using is a universal radiator recovery tank from Auto Zone, less than $10. Just find a place to mount it and hook up a hose to the vent. Should be a easy fix and then you can simply just re pour in the fluid from time to time or mount it high so gravity refills the sump.
