Was running my rotary cutter when my wife notice fluid coming out from under the seat of my L3400. Looked like hydraulic fluid to me. Is there some sort of overflow up under the seat or something? What gives? Turned off the PTO and the fluid stopped coming out. Going to have to remove the seat to get a better idea what it might be. Just thought you guys might have an idea.

Thanks

Should be a breather cap on top of the tranny somewhere to let air in out of the tank as necessary, but the question would be why is it overflowing if that's the issue. Hope it's nut'ing serious.

If your hydraulic fluid is a bit high it will spew out the breather tube. It is especially noticeable when hot or using high RPM (or both).

Just check to make sure the fluid level is between the two dipstick marks.

Just weird that it was doing that. I haven't been doing anything different from what I normally do. Wonder if outside temperature might have something to do with it since it was pretty hot today?

Took the seat off today and found out that it is just a question mark shape hose up under the seat with a small hole in the end of it. So it is a breather hose or vent of some sort. Also after looking around the tractor I found a leak on one of my hoses. Here are some pics of the hose and where it is cracked. Been looking online for a parts manual or a diagram of where this hose is so I can get a price, but haven't had much luck finding it. Anyone know where I can find it online?

Thanks.

Appears to be a suction hose coming from the hydraulic pump... as a temporary repair until I could get a new hose, I gave mine a couple of wraps with Gorilla tape... Unless you live close to your dealer, obtaining the hose can be a pain... replacement is a piece of cake.

Thanks guys. That is definitely the problem, also reading the post talks about the jerking in my steering as well because of the cracked hose.
