Does anyone know if the 6.8 gallons listed to fill the hydraulics, transmission and rear end also includes the front axle? I filled all 4 of those (took 7 gallons) but the rear end dipstick in still on add.

Have you filled your rear tires (R4 15 X19.5)with windshield washer fluid - the john deere literature says fill 40% while most places fill to 90% - what is correct? Thanks

It wouldn't include the front axle but it may not include the filter either. Go back to your manual double check with or without filter. I do see where you are coming up with that number. Also the ehydro is different from the standard on the 4520.

Thanks for the reply Gary - problem is I bought the 3720 used and don't have a manual - the local jd dealer did not seem to know the answers either

That's not a comforting answer to know the dealer didn't know. I would make a phone call to a larger dealership out of area but bottom line go with the dipstick reading.

You can actually get all of the manual information online via JD however in a different format than the standard manual. Let me know if you can find the link and I'll send you a link.

Transmission and hydraulic system (eHydro Models)=6.8 Gallons
Front Axle=1.2 gallons
Cooling System w/o cab=1.4 gallons antifreeze.
Fuel Tank=13.5 gallons
Crankcase with filter=6 quarts

With on tractor and the valve stem at 12:00, fill to valve stem. That is at 75%. For more weight per volume use Rim Guard. 30% more weight.

Also with a 300X loader the manual says;fluid in tires+660 pounds on 3 pt hitch or 3 wheel weights per wheel+weight box.

300CX loader; fluid in tires+1100# in weight box+3 wheel weights on each wheel.

Thanks Dude - OK I need to add another gal. to rear end for tranny and hydraulics- hopefully the low viscosity Hy Gard they sold me for the front axle is the correct fluid!! Do you check the fluid level with dipstick screwed in or sitting on top??

Gary - I found the jd site where you can purchase the operator manual cd for $30 or tech manual cd for $225 - not sure which manual would have this type of info - is that the site you were referring to - thanks again, Tom

Screw it in to get the correct level.
Transmission and the front axle use the same stuff (Low Viscosity HY-GUARD JDM J20D)

As for filling tires, 10-4 on valve stem at 12:00. Only thing I would add is if you are using calcium chloride, keep filling so you are comfortable that entire rim is always wet. When you disconnect the fill hose you will get a spray-have your face shield on and be quick with the valve.

I know many on this site are opposed to calcium chloride but I'm of the belief that as long s the rim is always wet you won't have issues. And I've had more than one commercial tire guy tell me the same thing. I had an 89 755 that is still in the family-and no rot.

Thanks for the info guys - valve stem is inboard , not sure why, but hopefully will get the rears filled this weekend.

I also have a 1986 Ford 3910 that has rears filled with calcium chloride but started rusting and leaking around valve stem. I cleaned them up and applied some JB Weld and problem solved - I'm going to try w. washer fluid in the 3720.
