Can you flush out your sprayer tanks with water and bleach if you wish to change chemicals for example going from roundup to Kocide, Carbaryl, and 2,4-D? I would like to use my 55 gallon tank to spray all of these chemicals at different times.

Thanks

I flush my 25 atv sprayer tank with a neutralizer mostly because the 2-4D will attack the rubber o-rings and hoses, I wouldn't use bleach-not knowing how it would react with what was in their. I would call some of the companies that you use and see what they recommend.

If you read the literature pamphlet that comes with these chemicals it tells you what to do for this. If you don't have the pamphlet still go online and go to the companies website as they all have the pamphlets and MSDS sheets available to read online.

There are neutrilizers on the market but from my own experience roundup will not be a problem if you fill the tank with another mixture. It will be diluted so much it won't hurt anything.

I bought this unit at an auction yesterday so I do not know what chemicals have been used. I would like to mix Kocide 2000 (fungicide)with Carbaryl(pesticide) and kill two birds with one stone providing they will mix properly. I would then like to drain the tank and add 2,4-D to spray my lawn for broadleafs. I would then need to flush my tank really well with something to neutralize the 2,4-D.

When I'm doing spraying, I plan on my 2-4-D first, then I come back with Tempo for bugs then I finish up with what round up spraying I want to do, that way I can just flush the tank with water when I'm done and put her away.

That puts my first spraying in the morning, the tempo that night and the roundup the next day. Hope this helps.

If you triple rinse your tank after draining it, it will pretty much remove all residual materials in the tank. Just as the materials original containers, triple rinse them before throwing them out. Make sure that the lines/hoses are also triple rinsed. You dont need to fill them completely, but make sure that you are washing down the side walls.

Done thousands of spray tanks this way with no problems. The key is to make sure you triple rinse in an area that the product in the tank can be used. That way it can not be construed as a missapplication by any regulators in the state dept of ag.

My sprayer recommends a mix with regular household ammonia when you clean out the tank.

I use Nutra-Sol after 2-4-D or any weedkiller that contains 2-4-D. I believe that 2-4-D can be absorbed by the tank material and then released back into your next mix.

For insecticides and fungicides I just give the tank a quick wash out when I'm finished. No need to be too particular because they will be so diluted in your next mix that they won't do any harm.

So, what I guess I'm saying is, spray the insecticide/ fungicide first and then the 2-4-D and wash up once when finished.

I took a class from the agriculture center and they stated that the plastic is porous and that chemicals will contaminate it. I use ammonia to rinse tank out.
