JD 4310 epower reverser
The display panel fogs up when I run my 4310 for long jobs (i.e. bushogging fields). I have talked to the dealer and he is not familiar with a factory notice on this. Any addition information will be appreciated.
[I've been a TBN participant for two years but recently had to re-register].

This is a known issue and was present on my '02 4310. I currently have a '03 4410 but don't recall having this issue as yet. I heard there was an updated glass kit for the pre-ten series to address the issue. My dealer said my 4310 should have already had this kit when new. He checked with Deere and they said it was still an unresolved issue.

Others may have different information??

I have a 4700, which fogs up the instr panel after lengthy runs of mowing. The fog is an odd whitish cast that forms in irregular streaks or "runs"; the streaks change in shape with each occurence. My dealer didn't know anything about it, but found that JD had a replacement bezel and seal kit available. I bought it but haven't installed it yet.

My 4710 (new this summer) fogged, as well as the 4400 I had previously. My dealer replaced the glass, and gasket (there is a JD part #, but I can't remember it) as a kit, and NO MORE trouble. Since then I've put about 50 hrs. on, including bush hogging pasture for 3+ hrs. at a time. I think the part no. for the kit was in an earlier post, but your dealer should know it. If you can't get it, I'll get it for you from my dealer.
Good luck...

Thanks for the responses. My situation is the same as you described. The dealer will replace the display shield and we'll see if that solves the problem. His only other instance of this problem reported by a customer was on a 4210.

I have the same problem on my 4600 - does anyone know the recall/fix/part # for it so I can let my local dealer know?

Thanks!

JD is aware of the problem. Your dealer should be able to replace the instrument panel glass with an new glass with an anti-fog coating. Note that fogging and condensation are listed as two different things by JD. Fogging is caused by dust + a little moisture. Condensation is water droplets "sweating". I installed the anti-fog kit on my 4310 and it is a stinker to get
the tilt wheel gizmo back on properly during reassembly. There are several threads on this subject. Do a search under "Instrument Panel Fogging". I've pasted a really good one posted previously by joecdeere below. Hope this helps.

Here is the case for the hundred series....
I show no cases yet for the 10 series, complain to your dealer, Deere can't fix what they don't know about !

My 4610, bought in July, does the same thing. It fogs up with an irregular shaped white haze under the glass. I have the fogging problem, the inoperative steering wheel tilt problem, and the inaccurate fuel gauge problem on the list for the 50 hour checkup at my dealer.

I wasn't aware of the last two issues - the inoperative steering tilt and improper reading on the fuel gauge.... Where are those listed?
