Someone listened to me!
Last week, while heading home, I witnessed one of our company’s vendor mowing guys driving a JD mower down the street at quitting time (rush hour). His unit didn’t have flashing lights or an SMV sticker, and his folding ROPS was down...........
The next day while driving home, I saw the same guy on the same mower mowing one of the areas. Again, the ROPS was folded down.
Frustrated, I sent an email to a buddy in maintenance, who forwarded it to the guy who contracts for facilities. I pointed out what he was doing wrong, and even if his employer didn’t care, I suspected the employer’s insurance carrier WOULD care! I didn’t know if it would help or not.
Well, today, as I was leaving work, I see this same JD mower driving down the street at quitting time. (Not sure if it was the same operator or not—couldn’t see well enough) Only this time, the ROPS was UP, and a bright shiny SMV sticker was adorning the ROPS. Not only that, he turned into a parking lot to minimize his time on the busy street.
First time in years anyone has listened to me at work! It was my 1 minute of fame. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
