I want to again thank all of you who made suggestions regarding how to free my stuck dozer. Today I got down to freeing it. A couple of days of dry weather helped I think. Here are the pictures.

First pic of the dozer stuck.

First step, I used my backhoe to clean out behind the dozer

Second step was to anchor the bucket of the backhoe. Given that I had cleaned out behind the machine and there wasn't much resistence once I got her moving I thought that a winch cable to the anchored bucket might be just enough to make it happen.

Larry,

Looks like you are getting ready to BURY your dozer!

I'll keep waiting for the rest!

THKS.

Put the dozer in reverse and it wouldn't go anywhere, just spin its tracks, take up on the winch at the same time however and she backed right out. Here it is high and dry.

I will stay out of here till it dries out a bit.

Now all it needs is a power washing to look like it had never been in the mud. Check it over closely and don't forget to grease everything. Glad to see that you were able to get it out. A number of years ago, I saw one like yours for sale that had a backhoe attachment in the rear. I thought it a novel piece of equipment, but couldn't justify the cost at the time. Now, I wish that I have bought it.

It looks like your grin in the pic got larger since you got it out /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifWhat a relief I bet.

You know, as much as we talked about your stuck dozer, a picture of just how mired it was sheds a whole different light on the situation. That first picture is a classic likely to be passed around for years.

CLiff and John,
I have to wonder if pictures sometime lie. Once I put my mind to it, and got my backhoe over to it - clearing out the mud 15 feet behind it and down 3 ft, hooking up the winch to the bucket etc. took me about 30 minutes. I must admit that it would have been a lot harder without the hoe.

I will be a bit more careful in the future. As I start to feel it starting to go south I'll drop her in reverse a bit quicker.
Pictures are much better than words though.
