Food plot implements?

With a three point spreader pelletized is the way to go. Ag lime will bridge and plug up in your spreader. If you have large enough plots contact your local farm service dealer, they may have a buggy you can rent. That is if you have a tractor big enough to pull it.

Thanks for the info. That is sorta what I expected. Thought about trying to find a used EZ flow. Man, that would bring back some memories. We threw out some pelletized by hand in some selected spots, but I have some large areas that need lots. I have contacted the farmer next door to ask him to let me know when he limes his pasture land again in the future. I will probably just hire him to do it. Always trying to do all I can myself though.

And remember pelletized will act quicker in the soil than ag lime, effective in few weeks as compared to 6 months, but it will not have the longevity of the ag lime making yearly maintenance applications standard. Just have to weigh the pro and con for your particular needs. If you are planting a plot that will be in for several years, like clover or alfalfa, I would choose the ag lime. That way you can mix it into the top 2 or 3 inches of soil to have the appropriate percentage without having to apply yearly and settle for leaving it on top of the ground. Another method to consider if your soil tests require more than 3 tons per acre is apply half and plant an annual the first year then in year two apply the second half to meet the required amount and plant a perennial at that time.
