Went to a party to celebrate the adoption of a 4 year old tonight. The host was towing a 16 foot tandem utility trailer behind his truck for a hayride and being very careful about it.

A lady decided to jump out and scare the kids on the trailer when they were coming back to the house. She got too close to the trailer, lost her footing, slid down and the tires rolled over her foot--sideways.

Only x-rays will tell if its broken, but she was in pain and had to be carried to a vehicle for her ride to the ER.

Not fun for her 8 year old daughter who saw it happen, not fun for her, and not fun for the host.

Sounds like something I would have done in my past. Now that I have kids, I spend allot of time trying to get it into their heads that accidents happen when they "try to be funny."

Hope she's ok.

Well, I'd have to say she was successful at scaring them...

Yes, she did succede at giving everyone a jolt.

OT, but years ago we were hauling square bales in just the same fashion.....16' trailer behind a pickup.....and just as I was heaving a bale onto the trailer from the side the driver decided to poke the gas and ran over my foot. It was at a funny angle and as I felt the trailer tire roll over I just knew I was in for some pain.............but there was enough give in the field we were in that it just depressed my boot into the soil and rolled on over without any harm.

I yelled some sort of four-lettered proclamation, then stepped back and looked down, and realized everything was just fine.

I tried to use my foot as a wheel chock for a semi loaded with a combine pulling a grain pup. It didn't work and when the bosses son re-set the air brakes the trucks drive tire was directly on top of my foot. The whole story is WAY longer and i think I have posted it before. It was quite funny really and my foot was fine, albeit "achy" the rest of the day.

I had a pickup with 15-20 hay bales on it roll over my foot as I was tossing another bale on the load. I didn't realise it had happened until I went to walk to the next bale and my foot was stuck in the dirt. I had my steel toed boots on.
Trying to be funny, aka horseplay, is taken very seriously most workplaces because it too often results in injury. Too bad she was injured but if that experience keeps any of the kids, or other adults, from doing something foolish in the future and being injured it can be a good thing.

had a lady that I treated at our towns pumpkin festival this weekend. tractor pulling 5 little trailers with kiddie cars attached like a little train. Driver went to make u turn. Clipped elderly lady in leg with sharp edge on last trailer. tore 3"x2" hunk of meat out of her calf. Luckily it was 200' from where we were letting kids play in fire truck, responce time was running time. ( I was not the first one there:eek: the young rookies can run faster than this old chief. ) but I brought the rubber gloves!!

It could have been worse..................she could have scared someone enough to cause them to fall off the wagon and get hurt or worse.

Sincerely, Dirt

We had some good news today that nothing was broken in the lady's foot. ER wrapped her foot up and sent her home.

She succeeded in scaring everybody more than she intended to. Don't think she'll be getting close to a moving trailer next time.
