Walmart is and has grown in leaps and bounds,Home Depot has grown buy leaps and bounds, there was a few years recently that Home Depot was growing faster than Walmart ( a new Home Depot opening every 46 hours)
Now when we thought K-mart was all but gone they buy Sears K-mart buys Sears
Who would have ever thought 2 years ago K-mart would come back and be able to do something like this, let alone keep there own doors open ?

What surprised me was that K-Mart and Sears COMBINED only make 3rd place on the biggest retailers list. Walmart is #1, and Home Depot is #2. What SCARED me was finding out that Walmart is America's largest employer! That means a LOT of people working for peanuts with little or no benefits.

I wonder if the same people who boycott Walmart boycott Home Depot ?

Not a fan of Walmart, especially after seeing programs like last night's PBS Frontline and reading elsewhere how they hold a gun to their US supplier's heads, forcing them to move overseas to compete. Still, neither Sears or Kmart seem too visionary lately. Kmart is back from the brink, at least temporarily, but its too soon to tell if they make it in the long run. Suspect the two combined companies will do the easy, no brainer stuff like lay people off, start buying all they can overseas, and send their backoffice functions to India. Any mediocre VP can do that. Predict that Walmart will downshift a gear and continue grinding them up in the products where they compete.

If Sears would start selling groceries, they'd do some real damage to Wal Mart. I'd sure like to see it happen.

Edit:

Seems I'm behind on the news. Sears is already selling groceries.

Sears debuts midsized store

I always take anything on PBS with a grain of salt. All Walmart employees I've talked to seem to like working there, however that's not many people considering the size of the company.

Interesting times to say the least.

No, becuase people who work at HD know what they are taking about or do it for a living. Hence you have a plumber in the plumbing department.

Unlike Wal-mart where one day #1 they have a 18 year old guy working in guns...

Ps. It is more like Sears bailing out Kmart.

are you kidding? So I could buy a crapsman 18 HP tractor, then get some milk, go back and get a "weedmachine"or air grinder then finish up with some tools! LOL /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
