Out doing snow removal and all of a sudden no forward no revese. FEL, 3PT, PTO work fine. It has been very slow in reverse for a few yrs. Have heard a few clunks coming from drive train in the last few weeks. Sound like front axle but not sure. Has been quite a while I have changed the HST filter.

Check fluid levels and change all fluids and filters.

1210's can break the mechanical hydro linkage at a balljoint inside the transmission case. Check out the linkage. If the hitch and other hydraulics work fine, fluids and filters are not a likely cause. But go ahead and check there, too.

 I check fluids and they are fine, I pulled off inspection plate and all lloks good on the linkage. The top shaft was spinning on the engine side but not on the rear axle side. Do you know the what the filter PN is? I will take a photo of the shaft that is not turning. I t looks like it should be one shaft but it may be a split shaft and working properly. Bumming I am out working in the driveway. I dont have anything to push it up to the house Pete 810-423-9636 thanks. I have a video I can send of the trans running. petert@thalner.com:(

The current part number for the hydrostatic charge filter is SBA340501030; expect to pay about $25 for it. I recommend you get this filter from New Holland; many other filters I am not so fussy about. The hydraulic suction screen is part number SBA340500130 unless it is damaged it may be cleaned and reused. The o-ring sealing the suction screen cover is part number SBA052300500 and again, if it isn't damaged, hard or flat, it can be reused. You need to be sure the system doesn't suck air around that o-ring. Wet it with oil or Vaseline before assembly.

Could the valve in the filter or a clogged filter be my problem?

I can't tell from here. maybe, maybe not. I'd surely check the screen; that doesn't cost anything. And if the spin on filter hasn't been changed in years, I'd consider that.

put new filter in, checked screen. Still no move. What is the charge on the HST mean?

I’ve got this same exact problem and I’m wondering if anyone ever figured it out. Already changed fluid/filter. Cleaned the jet screens and checked the linkage. I’m stumped.
