Tractor
Ford 1715
Just bought a Ford 1210 with hydrostat trans., tractor is in good cond but have a question on the pulling power, out playing with it and it seems the tractor in high gear does not have a lot of pulling power, I was running it up the back of my dam and it will not climb the grade, shift it down to low range and it climbs right on up, just changed the fluid, replace the filter and cleaned the screen with the same result, is this normal for this tractor., I think I got a super deal on this, 2k for tractor with Ford fel and older 4' bush hog. any advice appreciated.

i had a 1310, it was plenty powerful for its size..the proverbial little beast.

mine was gear though and 4x4

I'd say 2k was a sweet deal indeed

On a tractor with a hydro the further you push the hydro pedal the less torque you have. Let up on the pedal some.

High gear is meant for flat areas or road use. Also, by running in low on hills, your tranny will run much cooler.
