Looking for a new or rebuilt engine for a Ford 1300 compact tractor. Right now the water pump is frozen in the timing case cover. Since its my dad's tractor, I suggested replacing the engine, due to the water jacket's condition. F/NH can obtain parts, but not an engine. E-mailed numerous sources w/o success. Shibaura made the tractor and they no longer manufacture engines or parts. Last resort is to just replace the cover and get it running until it dies. Hoping someone else had the same problem and found a solution. Possibly a used engine from Japan.

Any suggestions?

I had a Ford 1100 for 20+ years/1000+ hours before I had to replace the water pump last year. The water pump housing was "frozen" in the cylinder block and I cracked the housing during my attempts at removing it. My local NH/F dealer was able to remove the cracked housing and was able to find an appropriate replacement. My IT Ford Shop Manual indicates that the 1100 and 1300 are similar in design. If I remember correctly the cost of repair was around $320 which is much cheaper than replacing trhe engine.

Is the housing broke that bad that it can't be fixed using something like J B Weld. I replaced my water pump last year and it cost around $125. If it isn't too bad I would try fix it somehow unless the hole where the water pump goes in is completely gone. Good luck.

It's completely frozen to the case. The mounting brackets have allready broken. I've tried heat and oil. The seal in the pump is bad. Last resort is to replace the timing case. That's $368.00 w/o all of the associated gaskets and pieces needed. I found a source for that. Just want to research for an engine if possible.

Do you mean that the tabs on the water pump are broken off, or is the whole housing broken. The pump slides into the housing and there is an o-ring. I was able to by the pump as a complete unit. My pump didn't come out easy but I played with it till I got it to loosen up. I broke the one of the bolt flanges when i did mine. If possible some pictures might help explain what you got.

A slide puller would work if properly attached to the pump also PB Blaster is the best if you can just wait a while.J B weld will fix the case if only cracked but clean and dry all contact surfaces.
