I have a 84-86 year ford 1310 compact tractor and I have a question about the proofmeter or tachometer cable and what it plugs into on the far end from dash panel. It had been acting spradic especially on them cold days. It would show the tachometer needle jumping all over the gauge and making a strange whining sound when it done this. So I decided to spray a little WD-40 on the ends of this closed in cable to help it run smoother. I sprayed right where the cable nut screws onto the dash panel without unscrewing it and on the far end I could see 1/2" of shiny cable and in a tight place near what some call the generator or governor. A couple of days after this happened I was going to take off the hydraulic oil filter and check it out and clean it and see if it was still in good shape. As I got the hydraulic filter out and cleaned and was about to put this tough thing back I noticed I could see the end of my proofmeter cable better. The endcap that holds the cable onto the generator was off but I DIDN'T SCRATCH AROUND INTO THAT DIRTY CREVICE AS I WAS WORRIED ABOUT GETTING DIRT INTO THE FUEL FILTER SCREWHOLES. Where does the cable screw onto --IS IT HIGH OR LOW ON THE BACK OF GENERATOR OR GOVERNOR THING?? WHAT DO I NEED TO TAKE LOOSE GET AT THIS TIGHT PLACE--DO I NEED TO TAKE THE HYDRAULIC OIL FILTER BACK OFF OR IS THEY'RE A EASIER WAY?? I'M NEW AND LEARNING --WOULD LIKE TO GET IT BACK TO WORKING--THANKS FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS
