edit: Ignore this... fiddled with the filter making sure it was fully seated and everything screwed back together.

Been putting this off for too long. The fuel filter for my 1510 is slightly too long for the bowl, just enough that I can't get the threads to engage. I can tell the filter that is currently on there had the same problem, but the previous owner just pushed 'er on anyway. The old filter is made in Japan so I am wondering if my fuel bowl is aftermarket and too short? I bought a filter from Messicks and now from Napa, which are identical.

There is a small 'platform' at the bottom of the bowl that I guess I could file down about 1/8" to get the filter to fit.

Hoping someone can offer some advice here. Thanks

I see you have it figured out.
Others have struggled when the steel top end of a filter cartridge stays up on the nipple in the filter head. When that happens there is insufficient room for the cartridge.
