Having problems with my hydraulics, ford 1510. Been doing lots of research and can't seem to find what I need to know.

Tractor had a front end loader on it as well as a tiller on the back. Tractor was working fine, parked it for 5 years. I recently started it up to do some mowing, First hydraulics will lift the bucket and tiller decent (kindve sporadic) then within days the loader and three point start acting up, only lifting when they want to.

I change the filter and fluid. Used the premium fluid that meets 134 requirements. Start it up and everything works perfect. Days later I have problems again. So I decide to remove the front end loader to see if that helps the three point.
Now I have absolutely no lift from the three point. I can see the short (just off the dist. block) loader hoses pulse every now and then, like they are being pressurized.

Heres my questions, that I can't seem to find the answer to:
I have an external filter (like an oil filter) So I don't have an internal screen to clean?

Should I remove the 3 point "handle" mechanism and clean it, to see if a relief valve is stuck?

Is there a "switch" that i need to change since I no longer have the loader on?

Seems odd that I have absolutely zero lift from the 3 point.

Also after the 3 point quit working I drained the new hydraulic oil (looked slightly milky) and put new oil back in. No change occurred.

Sitting for 5 years, hmm. No idea. My first inclination is getting air in the system. Sitting that long my gut says pump assuming you bypassed the loader correctly.

do I need to hook the loader hoses to eachother now that it is off?
I haven't done that yet. assumed the 3 point had its own supply and wouldn't need to complete a "circle" once taking the loader off.

Well on mine the pressure goes to the loader first. So if I were to take it off I would need to connect the hi side into the quick connect feeding the position control valve on the right side of the seat. Someone with your actual model may know for sure.

well hopefully someone chimes in. This could be a simple problem to fix if I just need to hook the loader hoses together.I am not very educated on hydraulic systems, so it is tough for me to diagnose the problem.

When you removed the loader you DID rotate the spool on the diverter valve, right?

well i hooked the two lines together that used to go to the loader, and the 3 point now works.
it lifts very fast, but it did drain back down, immediately after shutting the tractor off.
I believe I saw the repair for that while I was searching for this problem. One problem after another.

The spool you're looking for will be in the hydraulic block all the hydraulic pipes connect to. Should be under a floor/foot plate on whichever side the pump is mounted. The hoses to the loader valve will come from this block. There should be a spool on one side with a slot in the end. You rotate the spool with a screwdriver from one position to the other to switch from standard hydraulics to power beyond(loader use).
