ford 1520 oil change

I just started taking care of my friends 1520 tractor who is in the hospital and he is too bad off to answer questions for now. The oil filter is dated April, 2007 with 272 hours running time. I know he put in new oil this spring.

1) how often is an oil change recommended?

2) where in the hec is the oil level dipstick? I have gone over the engine with a microscope and can not find it.

Engine oil & filter change interval is 100 hrs or annually, IIRC. Dipstick is right next to the engine oil filter RH side of the block; also near the fuel filter that likely needs changing. oil fill is in the valve cover.

Thanks for the guidance. I feel so "novice" after realizing the dipstick was right in front of my face. Guess I was looking too closely!!

Don't know if the 1520 is one of the ones on the list, but to be safe be sure to refill the oil VERY SLOWLY and let it sit a while before starting it. If you search the forum you can find the bulletin on it and see if the 1520 is one of the listed machines. On these machines, the oil can lock in such a way as to do serious damage to the engine if poured too quickly. I make sure my engine is warm, drain and then fill slowly and then let it sit for fifteen minutes or so before restarting, to be sure the oil isn't trapped.. Probably overkill, but it's not any extra effort, and hopefully extra safe.

On a separate note, my tractor serial number is clearly UH31335, but I can not find this in the many lists for year of manufacture??? Whats up??
