I hope someone can help! I have a ford 1700 2cylinder diesel tractor that has sat up nearly 10 years. After installing a new battery and freed up a cam inside the injector pump, I was able to get her running. She would move but no hydraulics. I checked the fluid and it was milky gray. Drained all the fluid and cleaned the filter and refilled with new hydraulic fluid. Now.....hydraulics will go up but slowly but will not lift with an attachment and when engine at idle will drop back down. I read some threads and figured I needed to replace the piston seal. Replaced the piston seal and no significant improvement. Read some more threads and figured I needed to check pressure of my pump. I started the tractor and loosened the bangs bolt on the small hydraulic line at the rear of the tractor. I made a huge mess but seemed like significant pressure. Should have paid attention to the posts that warned me about making a mes lol! So now I figured I needed a pressure gauge to check pressure at the piston head. Went and bought a gauge from Northern tool and attached it where suggested and getting no pressur reading. Just doesn't seem right because when I removed the hydraulic line the pressure seemed high. I'm attaching pictures of my piston head and pressure relief valve.
