My 3 pt started bleeding down with blade attached with engine off. When I start the engine and raise the blade it pulses up and bleeds down in a continous cycle. When I shut off the engine I hear a clicking noise from the relief valve area as the blade drops. What might cause this?
I found the problem, the piston seal was cracked. I bought a new one and have the tractor disassembled ready to install the new seal. Can anyone give me helpful hints to get the new seal into the piston grove? Also to reassemble is ther any tricks of the trade i should know?

Putting the the seal in the groove is a one time shot, can not try to reuses the same seal if it is not done right first time. The seal cross section is u shaped with with the outer lip facing the cylinder head. Take a notice of the old seal orientation, the lips should face the top of piston that is painted red. clean the piston and the groove as well as you can, lube the seal and the piston and center it and try to push it over the circumference of the piston, don't use any thing to pry the seal. it is a tight fit but hand pressure, good lube and bit of patience you can slide it in the groove with the right orientation , miss the orientation and you'll buy another seal. I have a lengthy thread about it, use the search engine and there is a ton of stuff about it.
