Hi,
Very inexperienced old tractor owner.
Trying to get the rim off the center piece of the rear wheel to replace it. I am not familiar with the kind of nuts holding the piece on. I know it's a castle nut and I have to try to remove the cotter pin but what is the piece of metal folded around the nut and what kind socket takes it off? (Pic attached)
Heavily rusted. Been soaking them for 3 days with PB Blaster. Was lucky to get wheel off tractor that way, lugs came out easy. Rim is rusted out, that's why I am replacing it.
And can anyone confirm the rim size is 24"x10" for a Ford 1700? Not sure how to measure the width of the rim. I think its 10" which unfortunately is more than twice as much to replace as the 8" width. $350 compared to $140 from what I found online.
Thanks for any help. Just trying to fix the old thing up and keep it going. It runs great after 50 years, but needs work.
