Hello all. My name is Paul and I have just acquired a 1986 ford 1710. I bought this as a project knowing the tractor had been sitting for awhile (I was told 1 year, but anybody's guess how long) and that it had a cracked head. I have found a head, and have gotten it running. I have changed all filters and oil Cleaned the intake screen on hydraulics. Tractor would not lift the 3pt at all. The seal on the piston was all but gone, changed seal. Now 3 pt will lift but very slowly at a higher rpm but stops when any pressure is put on 3 pt linkage. I have taken apart, cleaned and reassembled relief valve in the line about half way back to 3pt, also the one under the seat. Actually any hydro valve I could see was pulled apart and cleaned. I must note that all of these looked clean no dirt or debris that was visible. I also have a 1310 and swapped the relief valves just to be sure. I unhooked the hydro line, started tractor and it took about 15 seconds to pump one gallon of fluid. I don't have a pressure gauge yet so just doing what I can. I'm not sure what Ford ( actually Shibaura) calls this tranny but it is not a hydrostatic. It is set up with 2 gear shifters one on the floor has 1-4, the column shifter has reverse and 1-3. i would call it a 12 speed, not sure what anyone else would call it. The 1310 1510 and 1710 are all set up with this tranny not sure about the others in the 10 series. No draft control on the 3pt. There is a side plate under the seat on the right hand side where the control runs in could the problem be in there? I'm not real sharp on hydraulics, but this has my father stumped also. He has farmed and worked on his own equipment for the last 50 years. As I said before I do not know much about hydros and might be calling things by improper names. Thanks in advance for any help on this..
