FORD 1715 4WD
:newhere: I would like any and all information on the ford 1715 4wd. I purchased one this past spring and have used it all year. It's a 1994 with 765 hours on it. It seams to be operating as it should. I would like to service the tractor myself. I plan on changing all the fluids. So if you could give me some feed back on what brands of oil and hydraulic fluid to use. Also the type and brand of filters. Is there any specific processes involved in the maintance of this tractor? It has a loader on the front of it. So does it require more hydraulic fluid than what the manual says for addition of the front loader? This is the first tractor I've owned so I'm trying to learn all I can.

I have the same year and model as yours with the factory loader. I have had mine for about 12 years now and it has required some repairs for regular wear items.
I have been using WIX filters for everything on the tractor except for my backhoe (Baldwins filter is cheaper than the WIX). The engine oil filter is either a WIX 51438(new#) or WIX 51521 (old#) New Holland changed to the new filter so it would fit more applications. Hydraulic oil filter is a WIX 51736 and the fuel filter is a WIX 33264 and the air filter is a WIX 56421 if you remove the first number from each of the WIX numbers they become NAPA numbers. I use the WIX filters because I was able to purchase them online in case quantities for less than 1/2 the the price of retail and they shipped free to my home.
I use DELO 400 motor oil and any hydraulic oil (brand not important) as long as it is 134C or better.
You won't be able to change the fluid in the loader so when you change the oil in the tractor it will use what the manual says.
Remember to change the fluid in the front axle and the power steering (all of these use the same fluid as stated in the manual).

Thanks for the information, I did not know about the power steering. When I purchased it there was not a manual that came with it. Could you tell me the process with changing the fluid in the power steering. Thanks again.

I would start with a manual for the tractor. It should reference at least which fluids are compatible.

Check Messicks(advertises here on TBN) or other New Holland dealer for a manual? Or Ebay?

Or Google?

The Manual says 134C same as the tranny and hydro. Is that right? A tractor place near me told me to use gear oil?? I told him the manual states to use 134 C but he insisted to use gear oil and that all the tractors they work on uses that.??
