THE TPH IS PULSING UP AND DOWN ALL THE TIME, I TRIED TO ADJ LINKAGE FOR HPL VALVE AND SAME PROBLEM.

IS THIS A LEAKING TPH HYD CYL OR A HPL VALVE PROBLEM OR SOMETHING ELSE ?

THANKS, :confused:ROGER.

Most of the time it's the cyl seals. Could be the valve and the valve has o rings where it bolts to the rockshaft, could be one of them. This is all in the rockshaft control housing. I don't know alot about the fords, so wait until one the ford guys jumps in, before you take it to the bank on what I said.

Probably lift cyl seal. Raise it up and close the flow control valve, turn engine off and see if it drifts down.

Fawken, I dont see a flow control valve on this model, there is a diverter block down near the pump.
I raised the TPH, with the truck off I stood on the hitch and it slowly drifted down.
Do you know if I have to remove the whole lift arm cover assy to reseal cyl or can i get to it from the lift cover head assy?

I am a forklift mechanic by trade, just helping out a neighbor.

Thanks, Roger.

The flow control valve is typically under the seat and has a rabbit and tortoise on it. It controls the speed that the linkage drops. By turning it full clockwise isolates the problem to the lift cylinder. Most lift pistons can be removed from the top by simply removing the flow control valve assembly (under seat).

I have seen the valve you are talking about on other tractors I've worked on.

nothing like that at all on this 1715

HERE IS A PIC. NOT ON THIS TRACTOR, MAYBE ONLY 1320,1520,1620

What year do you have? The diagram showed different layouts for some years. Probably you can close the flow off with the draft control lever, but not familiar with the ones with draft. Anyway, that assembly in your picture is how you get to the piston and seal. 6 bolts if memory serves. Take it off and raise the lift arms by hand till you can grab the cylinder and pull it out.

Edit: Typo, you won't grab the cylinder- I meant grab the "piston."

Why don't you open it first and see what parts you need then order parts? What parts where you going to order in the dark?

Not a bad idea. If the old ones are still serviceable put them in an airtight baggie for future use. I save my old serpentine belts and keep them in a freezer bag in the trunk along with the wrench to put them on.

FAWKEN, RESEALED THE PISTON AND SAME PROBLEM.
I AM THINKING MAYBE THE RELIEF VALVE ON THE LIFT HEAD COVER HAS A BROKEN SPRING OR SOMETHING.
IF NOT IT MUST BE IN THE CONTROL VALVE FOR THE TPH SOMEWHERE

What did the old seal look like? Didn't we isolate the problem by having you close the flow control (speed of drop) valve with the lift up? There are springs, a ball valve and a couple of O-rings in the lift head, check those. Make sure the ball is clean (no rust) and the seat is clean with no pits.

SEALS LOOKED OK
THIS TRACTOR DID NOT HAVE A FLOW VALVE
I WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE VALVE HEAD AGAIN TO REMOVE AND CHECK THE RELIEF VALVE ASSY
I SHOULD OF OPENED IT UP WHEN I HAD IT OFF, BUT IT WAS ALREADY RAINING AND I WAS HOPING THINGS WOULD WORK.
OH WELL

If they check good you'll have to check the position control/pressure relief assembly. At that point a pressure gauge would be a good tool to acquire.
