Hey guys, in your opinion, will my ford/ Nh 1715 handle a 6ft shibara tiller? This tiller seems to have thin curved tines, so i thought it might cut into my clay rich soil. The owner of this tiller is selling it, because his MF2300 is being shook to death. I thought if his 13,000 MF can't han dle it, neither will my 1715, but then I saw his MF2300. It looks like a riding lawn mower...lol, so now i wonder if my ford might?

Thanks guys,
mach

I own a NH TC29DA with FEL and weighted tires. It matchs your Ford 1715 relatively closely (HP/PTOHP= 29/23+ vs 25/23, `3000+#'s vs 2300+, etc). I run a CCM M-160 tiller (58") through heavy NE clay soil and have tilled in "virgin" sod without difficulty. I do not know the weight and power requirements of the Shibara tiller, but review of CCM's and KK's sales and marketing literature gives me the impression that you are on the low end of PTO HP power requirements (CCM= 20LD,25MD,40HD, KK= 35-50) for a ~6' tiller. If you buy this tiller you could remove the outer tines if under powered and I would suggest you weight your tires/tractor. Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Jay
