I posted this in the Ford forum with no response, hopefully I have better luck here.

I think I may have inadvertently damaged the PTO clutch on my Ford 1720 SSS.
It was working fine all winter.
The left floor board (clutch side) was loose & rusty so I removed it to repair.
I built a temporary floor board so I could still use the tractor.
I was using it one day and not thinking I pushed the clutch pedal much farther than normal because the stop built into the oem foot rest was missing.
It made no noises and the transmission clutch worked fine. All was OK.
I had to use my rototiller tonight and found that the PTO clutch would not disengage.
I had to start the engine with the PTO engaged and finished the tilling now I need to figure out what happened.
Did over depressing the clutch damage it?
Did the fingers go over center?
Does anyone know what may have happened before I split the tractor?
The clutch is not stuck from sitting it gets frequent use and is always parked inside.

I posted this in august and have had no reply’s!
I find it hard to believe there are no opinions on this!
Am I the first to go where no man has gone before?🧐
