Ford 1900 3 pt hitch won't go down

With winter just hitting us today in MA, I put my spreader on the 3 pt hitch and proceeded to sand my driveway, now it won't go down. If I raise the controls up ever so slightly, it will continue to go up.

Any ideas?

Is the flow control closed(the black knob under the front of the seat). Will it go down with the tractor shut off. You could also have alot of moisture in you hydraulic oil and have ice in your control valve.

I agree on moisture. My 1910 hydraulics frequently freezes up in cold weather. During hot humid summer days and cold nights, moisture gets sucked in and collects in the lowest places. Filters and low hanging FEL hydraulic lines often freeze. The only solution was to get it inside for thawing.

Welcome to TBN Blue. I second it on what Bill said. With the rate of drop knob closed, you can raise the 3 point, but can not lower it. Additionally you may have some blockage in your spool valve unloading valve. To eliminate ice buildup possibility due to some moisture, I'd get a heat gun or blow drier and put a little heat where the spool valve is. it should not take much to thaw it out if you indeed have moisture.

I assume you opened the valve more first. If not, and you had a heavy summer implement on and had the flow control set to lower it slowly, the spreader may be too light to go down. I've had this happen on my 1910.
