Apparently this is a common problem, but I'm still at a loss to solve it. I use the glow plugs, the crank the engine. The engine starts about 10-15 seconds, runs for 20 or 30 seconds and powers down. I've put in new fuel; new filter; bled the filter and pump; removed, checked, and replaced fuel lines; and bled the lines before connecting to the injectors. When I removed the bleed screw from the side of the pump fuel flowed freely out in a nice steady stream. I noticed that with the fuel lines disconnected and I crank the starter, fuel is pumped only about an inch or two up into the air above the pump. Shouldn't it be much higher?

I would look closely at the fuel lift pump. If it cannot supply the appropriate amount of fuel to the injector pump the tractor would stall.

Where is the fuel lift pump? It looks to me like it's primarily gravity feed from the tank through the filter into the fuel pump.

Sorry, I should have started by saying thanks for the response, then asked my question. Thanks

No problem. If it is a gravity feed type system then could there be trash in the tank cutting the flow as it runs? Certainly sounds like a supply problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. That should have been my first thought, but wasn't. I hope it's that and not a bad pump. Apparently these pumps are expensive. I'll check the tank in the morning.

Is the fuel tank cap venting? Run it without the fuel cap on and see if it dies or not.

If you think it is a bad pump, there is a TBN member (pumpguysc) who lives in SC.
He is VERY helpful with troubleshooting injector pump issues, and rebuilds injector pumps as well.
You could FedEx your pump to him if need be.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try those and if need be, get in touch with pumpguysc.
Cheers,
Tom
