I'm new to this forum and found a few posts that touch on the issues with my Ford 1910 but not everything at once. At low RPM (or with the engine off), the three-point hitch will not support a load. It also drops if I raise the FEL boom. Keeping the revs up above 1500 or so keep the 3PH in position. Another issue which may or may not be related is that when the hydraulic system gets up to temperature the FEL functions don't seem to have as much lift capacity. In other words, when the tractor first starts up I can lift a bucket full of dirt, not so when it's hot (hot being probably around 180F). Also, the FEL curl function is very slow in both directions. That might be related to the slop in the actuator for the valves but I'm open to other opinions. Also, per the manual, the diverter valve is supposed to select 3PH or FEL but on my tractor one position is 3PH only, the other position both 3PH and FEL work. Hydraulic oil is clean and clear and filter was recently replaced.

I appreciate any comments or opinions that might help improve the tractor hydraulics.

Thanks,

My 1710 loader is slow all around. I think that is typical of the 10 series. But from everything you have said, I am suspecting a worn hydraulic pump.

You both need a flow and pressure test to test the pumps ability to develop the pressure with the fluid in use.

Maybe a different fluid more suited to your climate.

You could also have some valve and seals leakage.

If your 3pt descends when off and the descend valve is closed off, then the 3pt cyl seals are bad.

Your diverter valve is functioning correctly, your interpretation of its functional characteristics is incorrect.
Your 3PT lift piston seal is very likely to have failed.
In addition, it would seem that your pump is worn, or the quantity and quality of the hydraulic oil is deficient.

A pump pressure and flow test is required in order to make a correct diagnosis.

Thanks to the responses to my questions. I appreciate the input and will proceed with looking at the 3PT seals and conducting the flow and pressure tests. Do any of you know the recommended pressure and flow rate for this pump? Also, assuming the pump is on it's last legs are there any recommendations for where to get a replacement pump?

Thanks again,
Dave Detty

Hi Dave,

I suspect you have long since fixed your issue but if not, I thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth. I had the exact same issue as you described, it was bad seals on the hydraulic lift piston, there is an excellent video on u-tube for replacing the seals.

Thanks,

Richard Gemmill
