I have a 1910 that was working fine until I found it with the key on. I have a service manual and ran thru all the tests. I tried a new alternator - nothing. I have tried 3 new regulators and with all 3, the light doesn't come on and they click when connected and key-off. This is getting frustrating!

Is the light blown? Do you have a meter to test circuits and voltages? Not sure what the book shows for tests.

Is your battery still good?

Your said the key was on.
Why did you change your alt and reg

I would limit my ts&r to the battery and wires.
Verify the battery is good and then check wires for corrosion.

I charged the battery and then started it and the Battery light stayed on. After, I load tested the battery and system and found the alt wasn't charging. I tried a replacement alt which didn't help. I tried replacement voltage regulators and out of the 3, non of them are pinned the same! I can't seem to get a schematic for any of them either. What part number voltage regulator actually works on a 1910? Who decides to supercede part numbers for non-like parts to streamline inventory?

It was working before someone left the key on.
The battery was charged and checked out good.
The problem imho should be wiring.
Check all connections for good continuity.
Remove all rust, corrosion, black wire disease. Just because a wire is covered with insulation does not mean there is not corrosion under the insulation.

The battery light could be on due to a bad connection.
I do not see an alt or reg going out because the key was left on. But, stranger things have happened. I am just saying battery and or wires are more likely.

On my Ford 1900 I found that the voltage regulator from 1980 had in common a replacement from a Datsun of the same time period. I then went to the local auto parts store and got one. And the best thing is that the new replacement isn't a mechanical style anymore it's a electronic one. It's worked great ever since. All i had to do was to do a google search on the original part # on the regulator and the manufacturer of it.
