Long time reader, but first time for a question on here... Hopefully you all can help me out.
So here is the background. I'm dealing with a '94 Ford 1920 SSS. The clutch is going out I know (PO said it had been fully adjusted out and lowered the price by the amount of the repairs when I bought it), but have been able to run it pretty hard for 2 years without it finally quitting. It's got 3400 hours on it and I don't know a lot about the previous maintenence that has been performed. I'll be ripping into the clutch since all repair places I've been want $2K in labor to replace it.... Big question I have is, just recently I've noticed a "thunking" somewhere in the rear end of the tractor... It's rythmic with the speed of the engine, only when the clutch is engaged. When the clutch is disengaged it disappears. Also, it seems that the tractor is "dragging" and not as free rolling of late but hasnt seems to hamper the power. Where do I need to be looking to identify this? My gut feeling is a bearing going south... Which in my experience can be quick and damaging/expensive if it does actually go. Does this have anything to do with the clutch slowly going or am I correct in my assumptions? Any suggestions are much appreciated.
